A boxing club, a social club and a youth centre are the latest tenants to plan their futures around the new Amherstburg Community Hub.
The House Youth Centre, Fighting Island Boxing Club and the Verdi Club will soon call the community hub home following recent approval by Amherstburg town council.

They will join the Essex County Nurse Practitioner-led clinic and Amherstburg Community Services in filling renovated space at the former St. Bernard’s elementary school.
“It’s a broad demographic of age groups,” Mayor Aldo DiCarlo said. “We’re pretty happy about that. We said at the beginning we didn’t want the hub to just be a seniors complex and now we should have everything from youth to seniors.”
The medical clinic is up and running, albeit with COVID-19 restrictions, and the Amherstburg Community Services are “anticipating a move in the very near future,” according to executive director Kathy DiBartolomeo. “Renovations are still ongoing.”
