“In case anything happens to us, Will you take care of our twins?”
This was a question posed to me on a recent Friday evening by my brother and sister-in-law after learning they both were COVID-19 positive in Buffalo.
We apologize, but this video has failed to load.
Having recently completed two weeks of inpatient duty at the Windsor Regional Hospital, it led to a reflection of a kaleidoscope of emotions shared by many of my colleagues.
These emotions ranged from exhilaration to exhaustion, confidence to uncertainty, being embraced to alienated, as well as from carefree to vigilant.
I am infinitely blessed, honoured and privileged to work alongside frontline providers including unit clerks to pharmacists, porters to EMS providers, dieticians to administrators, social workers to respiratory therapists and nurses to physicians.
I certainly have been inspired by physicians and nurses who chose a path to devote their clinical care towards COVID-19 patients while exposing themselves and families to risk.
